Dr. Emrah Bulut is an Associate Professor of Shipping Business Management at Department of Business Administration of Yildiz Technical University. His research interests include Shipping Asset Management, Logistics Management, Maritime Economics and Forecasting. He also studies on the field of Behavioral Economics and Decision Making. He teaches courses in undergraduate and graduate Fundamental of Logistics Management, and Supply Chain Management.
Dr. Bulut received his bachelor degree from the Department of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (2006). After that, he worked on board in the product tanker for one year to get shipping experience. He graduated from the Department of Maritime Transportation Engineering (MEng) in 2009.
In 2009, Dr. Bulut was awarded for the MSc/PhD scholarship at Kobe University by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. He moved to Kobe, Japan and completed his Master of Science degree (Hons) at the Department of Maritime Logistics, Kobe University in 2011. He received his Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University. The dissertation title is the Economic Analysis on Ship Investment and Management Strategy of Dry Bulk Shipping.
Dr. Bulut contributes several studies related to the market entry-exit time on shipping, shipping investment strategy decision and ship valuation. He proposes and improves some methods for the decision support systems, group decision making under uncertainty and fuzzy time series forecasting. He has published articles in scholarly journals and conference such as International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Quality and Quantity, Expert Systems with Applications and Applied Soft Computing.
He is Associate Editor in the Journal of Yildiz Social Science Review and current Section-Editor of Maritime Economist Magazine. He has memberships of the American Finance Association (AFA), International Association of Maritime Economics (IAME) and Korean Association of Shipping and Logistics (KASL). His several studies were recognized with grants and contracts as well as several awards and honors.
Dr. Emrah Bulut is married to Özlem Bulut with one daughter.
